Late TDs propel Northwood to 30-17 win

KANSAS — Trailing 17-14, visiting Northwood scored twice in the fourth quarter to come from behind and defeat Lakota, 30-17, in a non-league football game Friday.

It is Northwood’s first win of the season against two losses, while Lakota falls to 1-2.

Lakota’s Nate Grigson got the scoring started by catching a touchdown pass from Jalen Wagner in the first quarter.

Jason St. Claire scored later in the quarter on an 80-yard run, and Tyler Osley added the conversion run to put the Rangers ahead, 8-7.

Lakota kicker Brandon Leal booted a 43-yard field goal in the second quarter to add to his first quarter conversion kick, putting the Rangers back in front, 10-8.

In the third quarter, Osley scored on a one-yard run, putting Northwood back in front, 14-10, but Wagner scored on a six-yard run in the fourth quarter to put the Raiders back in front.

St. Claire scored on a 16-yard run and Julien Chappell scored on a 41-yard interception return, plus Nick Reinhart and Landan Kidd added conversion runs in the fourth for the winning scores.

St. Claire led Northwood’s rushing attack with 120 yards on eight carries, Jaylen Archer had 59 yards on six carries, Osley had 49 yards on 14 carries, Reinhart had 12 yards on four carries, Kidd had 26 yards on seven carries, Tyler Revilla had two carries for zero yards, and Chappell had three carries for one yard.

For Lakota, Grigson had 37 yards rushing on 10 carries.

Osley completed 6-of-12 passes for 151 yards with one interception for Northwood, and Wagner completed 11-of-27 yards for 167 yards and three interceptions for Lakota.

For Northwood, Hunter Owens caught three passes for 53 yards, Archer caught two passes for 54 yards, and St. Claire had one catch for 44 yards.

Northwood finished with 284 yards rushing on 44 carries with three fumbles, including two fumbles lost. Lakota had 54 yards rushing on 18 carries with one lost fumble.
