Jackets shut out Little Giants, 35-0

PERRYSBURG — Nico Walkosky ran for 119 yards and a touchdown as Perrysburg improved to 3-0 with a 35-0 shutout victory over Fremont Ross at Steinecker Stadium Friday.

In the non-league crossover game between Northern Lakes League Buckeye and Cardinal division teams, Perrysburg scored in every quarter, including a one-yard TD run by Joseph Seney in the first quarter to get things started. In the second quarter, Seney scored again on a two-yard run.

Walkosky scored on an eight-yard TD run and senior quarterback Josh Takats threw a 17-yard TD pass to Dominick Woods in the third quarter.

In the fourth, Woods scored on a 22-yard run. Brayden Heitmeyer, after scoring one goal and assisting on another the night before in Perrysburg’s 4-0 soccer team’s win over Findlay, was 5-for-5 in conversion kicks.

Perrysburg had 20 first downs to the Little Giants’ nine, they outgained the Little Giants 222-62 on the ground and 87-26 in the air.

Takats had 11 carries for 45 yards, Woods had two carries for 28 yards, Carson Pershing had nine carries for 21 yards, and Seney had four carries for 11 yards.

Takats completed 4-for-8 passes for 87 yards with one interception, and Beckett Walters also threw an interception for Perrysburg. Woods had all four catches, accounting for all 87 yards.

For Fremont Ross, Norris Brown had three carries for 26 yards, Braylen Garza had three carries for 22 yards, Zalen Harris had four carries for eight yards and Karson Kayden had nine carries for two yards.

Kayden completed 8-of-17 passes for 26 yards and one interception, and Garza was 0-for-6 with one interception.

Tyress Brown had a catch for 12 yards, Mason England had a catch for five yards, Jaxson Mackey had a catch for five yards, Bryce Schiets had a catch for four yards, and Zalen Harris had a catch for two yards for the Little Giants (1-2).

For Perrysburg’s defense, Ben Patterson and Gary Swanson had interceptions, Seney had two sacks, and Eric Bush had one sack.
