PEMBERVILLE — The Pemberville Concert Series, ‘Live! In the House’ is set to kick off its’ 16th season Saturday with a full schedule of nine shows scheduled for the first Saturday of every month through May.

The Pemberville Opera House, one of the oldest operating opera houses in the state of Ohio, was built in 1892 and restored in 1999 by the Pemberville Historical Society. Still operated by the Historical Society, the opera house is home to not only the concert series, but to recitals, weddings and more.

The opera house boasts many unusual features synonymous with “theatres on the second floor” from the 1800s. The stage is raked and the house is flat, there are two original dressing rooms, scenery slats and hand painted flats. A grand drape of a German village is a treasured piece of Pemberville history and is used frequently. Boasting an 18’ ceiling fresco, and all in the original colors, the opera house is one of the most beautiful in the state. Tours are given, just reach out at the number below.

The opera house has been maintained in its’ original grandeur, but has been updated with led stage lighting, digital sound reinforcement and an elevator tower that was added seven years ago making it accessible to all.

The concert series is priced at $15 per show or only $120 for the entire season and are on sale at Beeker’s General Store or by contacting Carol at 419-287-4848.

Advertisers and patrons are currently being sought and if interested, reach out to Carol at the above number.
