Bowling Green Police took a report Thursday in the 900 block of South Main Street of counterfeit money being used at a gas station.

The manager called officers around 1:26 p.m., explaining that a man was just in their store trying to buy beer with a counterfeit $100 bill and was turned away, according to the Bowling Green Police Division report.

The manager stated that the same man was in the store on Aug. 25 at 12:16 a.m. and purchased a six-pack of beer for $6.49 and cigarettes for $6.54, and paid with a $100 bill. He was given $86.09 in change for his counterfeit bill, according to the report.

The manager stated that the pen to mark the bill did not turn black but the bill is obviously fake. The manager saw the man walking behind a nearby store in a black hat, orange Ashley Furniture T-shirt and jeans, according to the report.

Officers seized the fake $100 bill. The male has not been identified, according to the report.
