A Bowling Green man accused of throwing beer cans out the window and driving in the wrong lanes of travel has been cited for OVI.

Bowling Green police were dispatched Saturday to the 500 block of Sand Ridge Road for a dispute between a male and female outside of a vehicle.

When officers arrived around 9:48 p.m., they spoke with the female who stated that the male, Paul Briner, 40, Bowling Green, was intoxicated. He was observed walking away from the scene, according to the Bowling Green Police Division report.

Officers ordered Briner to walk back and speak to them. When asked what happened, Briner stated that a group of people he was with left the Fulton County fairgrounds and were heading back to Bowling Green. He said on the way back, the female complainant accused him of talking to other women, hit him and took his glasses off, according to the report.

Briner stated he put the vehicle into park from the back seat and took the keys out of the ignition before exiting the vehicle.

Witnesses stated that Briner was driving. Witnesses told police that Briner was throwing beer cans out the window along with driving in the opposite lanes of travel, according to the report.

Officers conducted a field sobriety test on Briner and detected 6/6 indicators of impairment.

Briner was cited for OVI/refusal and received a criminal warning for disorderly conduct.
