Maumee man injured in I-75 crash

A Maumee man crashed into a guardrail and overhead sign on Aug. 20.

Around 6:59 a.m., Roman Canales, 34, Maumee, was southbound on Interstate 75 when he drove his 2020 Chevrolet Colorado off the right side of the road, striking a guardrail and overhead sign before coming to rest in the center lane.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol responded to the scene.

Canales was seriously injured in the crash, and was found unconscious at the scene. He was wearing a shoulder and lap belt.

Canales was transported by Bowling Green EMS to Mercy-St. Vincent Medical Center.

Canales was charged with operating a vehicle without reason.
