A former Northwood man has pleaded guilty to stealing an automobile from a Perrysburg dealership and then leading law enforcement on a multi-county chase.

Nathaniel Woodby, 23, currently of Toledo, appeared Monday in the courtroom of Wood County Common Pleas Judge Molly Mack.

He was indicted in June for grand theft of a motor vehicle and failure to comply with the order or signal of a police officer.

On May 16, he asked a salesperson at the Perrysburg Yark dealership to start a 2021 Chevy Camaro. He entered the vehicle, put it in drive, drove through the grass at a high rate of speed and fled southbound on Ohio 25. He did not stop when law enforcement activated lights and siren.

He fled into Lake Township and Ottawa County at speeds over 130 mph before being apprehended.

He pleaded guilty to the theft charge as indicted and amended attempted failure to comply, both fourth-degree felonies.

Mack said she could impose 18-month prison sentences for each charge, to be served consecutively.

Sentencing was scheduled for Oct. 21.
