MILLBURY — The Village of Millbury will be having a 150th anniversary celebration on Sept. 14.

“It is going to be a nice one-day event in the village. I am on that committee, and we are working on it,” said Melanie Bowen-Greenwald at the Aug. 6 Lake Township Trustees meeting. “There is going to be a parade at 12:30 p.m. through town. At the Fire Hall, there is going to be a car show, kid’s activities, live music, and more. 150 years is a big deal.”

Also at the meeting, the board of trustees hired Linda Rossler as a part-time zoning inspector, filling the vacancy that was created in March.

“We are happy to have her. If you look at her resume, she is very qualified,” Bowen-Greenwald said. “We look forward to working with her.”

Safety Day will be taking place on Sept. 8. Families from the community are encouraged to attend the event at the Administration Hall, located at 27975 Cummings Road.

“The kids’ portion is from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. with recycling after,” Bowen-Greenwald said. “Police cars, fire trucks and other vehicles will be there. I am hoping that this is a fun day for the kids.”

The next board meeting will be Aug. 20 at 5:30 p.m. in the Administration Hall.
