Sophie Piper, a 2023 Elmwood High School graduate and Cygnet resident, is the recipient of a $1,000 scholarship awarded by Glass City Federal Credit Union.
Glass City Federal granted four additional scholarships to area students who are attending a two or four year accredited post-secondary institution during the 2024-25 school year. Scholarship applicants were required to write and submit an essay, and the winning recipients were selected by a panel of community business representatives.
Piper is currently enrolled at Ohio State University (OSU), majoring in radiological sciences. At OSU, she is a member of Alpha Epsilon Delta, the Buckeyes Against Cancer Club and the Kessler Scholars Program.
A dean’s list and Kessler Scholars Coin Recipient, Piper’s community involvement includes the OSU Zero Waste Program and serving as a Buckeye-Thon Kids Cancer Volunteer.
