Bob and Elaine Frobose are each natives of Pemberville.

Bob a graduate of Eastwood and Elaine a graduate of Elmwood. They met as teenagers attending Luther League at St. Paul Lutheran Church in New Rochester, where they and their family remain as lifelong members.

In 1975, St. Paul was the setting for the beginning of their marriage and all of the adventures that it has provided thus far.

The youngest of seven children, Bob gives credit to his mom and dad as his most influential teachers. They taught him to work hard and treat people with respect. His father strongly discouraged him from getting into the farming industry. Loren Frobose passed away in 1989 and the following spring Bob’s mom asked him if he would like to get cattle in the barn again. Bob jumped at the chance.

From 1990 until now the barn has always been full of cattle.

Bob and Elaine have worked together to teach their children and grandchildren the value of hard work and the responsibility in caring for animals. They agree that this has been rewarding.

Tom Meyer is credited with giving Bob his first job as an apprentice with Latham’s Markets. He started working and learned the meat cutting trade from Lowell Frobose. Bob eventually became employed by Miller’s Markets. In July of 1999, Bob and Elaine purchased Perkin’s Meat Locker. Bob continued working for Millers along with running the meat locker. His average work week was 100 hours. All the while with Elaine by his side as his partner, the bookkeeper, the homemaker, and the mother of four children.

As time has progressed, Bob and Elaine have taken ownership of The Pemberville IGA in 2012, and the Pemberville Carry Out in 2017. In 2020, 213 Front St. was purchased, remodeled, and is since the home of known business.

For many years, Elaine also taught others her amazing talent of basket weaving. She held classes at numerous libraries where her skill and talent has been learned and appreciated. Her collection of baskets is vast and impressive.

Bob and Elaine’s marriage has blessed them with four children, Ben (Brianne), Jake (Dana), Zach (Stephanie), and Abby (Buster); nine grandchildren, Lauren, Nathan, Addy, Will, Henry, Prescott, Molly, Eve, and Lucas.
