Opening Ceremony is tonight

It’ll be a bucket of fun at this year’s Pemberville Free Fair.

Opening ceremonies is tonight at 6 p.m. downtown prior to the start of the kiddie parade.

There will be an opening prayer, singing of the national anthem and mayor’s remarks.

There will be clowns, jugglers, tumblers, twirlers, dancers and costumed characters.

Volunteers needed for reception desk

The Pemberville Fair is looking for volunteers for two-hour shifts sitting at the reception desk when you walk into the former Pemberville Elementary School building. Volunteers are needed Thursday, Friday and Saturday (after parade).

We are also looking for a bingo worker for Saturday from 3-6 p.m. at the bingo tent.

Garden club invites kids to arrange flower bouquets

The Pemberville Four Seasons Garden Club will host a Kids Flower Arranging program Thursday 6-8 p.m. or until flowers run out.

The event will be on the Memorial Drive side of the Legion Hall.

Beef BBQ, hog roast will be served

Freedom Post 183 will hold a calf club beef Thursday with serving starting at 5 p.m.

Sons of the American Legion Squadron #183 will serve hot pork sandwiches at its hog roast Friday. Serving starts at p.m.

Both will be held on Memorial Drive.

Win cupcakes at the Cupcake Walk

On Friday from 3:30-4:30 p.m. in the Entertainment Tent, the Cupcake Walk is open to both children and adults.

Tickets are 25 cents or five for $1.

Participants begin by standing on a number. The music will start, and the participants will start walking around a circle. The music will stop without any warning and the participants stop on the nearest number. A number will be drawn from a bucket and the participant who is standing on that number wins the prize which is a box of two pretty cupcakes. The game continues until all cupcakes are gone.

Quilt show in its 39th year

Sponsored by the Pemberville-Freedom Area Historical Society, the 39th Annual Pemberville Quilt Show will be in the Pemberville School Building, 120 E. College Ave.

Quilt show hours are Thursday and Friday from noon-8 p.m. and Saturday following the parade until 6:30 p.m.

Play bingo, cash bonuses paid nightly

Bingo will be played in the Bingo Tent tonight from 7:30-10 p.m., Thursday from 6-10 p.m., Friday from 6-11 p.m. and Saturday from 3-11 p.m.

One ticket per card, 25 cents per ticket – five tickets for $1.

Must be 18 or older to play and cash bonus will be paid each night on last game.

Kids scavenger hunt planned

A free Kids Olympic Scavenger Hunt will be held Friday from 5-6 p.m.

It will start in front of the Scout Cabin and is open to ages 3-12.

Prizes will be awarded.

Classic car show is Saturday

Registration for the Pemberville Free Fair’s Classic Car Show is from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 220 Cedar St.

Show ends at 1 p.m., when all exhibitors are invited to be a part of the Grand Parade.

Chicken Plop is Saturday

Tickets are $5 per square or three squares for $10 and can be purchased evenings in the Small Animal Tent.

The chicken plop is Saturday at 8 p.m. in the Small Animal Tent when a chicken will be released within a pen with 187 squares.

If the chicken decides to plop in your square you will win the grand prize. If no plop has occurred by 9 p.m. then a winner will be randomly selected by drawing. If a plop lands on a square that was not claimed a winner will be randomly selected by drawing.

No need to be present to win, we will contact the winner after the event ending.

Proceeds to benefit the Pemberville Free Fair.
