PERRYSBURG — A new convenience store and fuel center will be neighbors to an active-adult community south of the city.

Perrysburg City Council on Aug. 6 held a public hearing on the rezoning request for the 2-acre lot on the northwest corner of Ohio 25 and Five Point Road.

Stop-N-Go plans to purchase the property once rezoning is approved.

The property, which is zoned industrial, has a duplex on it, said Brody Walters, planning and zoning administrator for the city.

The request is to rezone it highway commercial.

“The request does not seem to conflict with the land use plan,” Walters said.

At the public hearing, there were no comments from the public in favor of or opposed to the rezoning.

Jim Sutphin, vice president of project development for S&G, attended the meeting but did not comment.

Walters said he hasn’t had any positive or negative feedback from nearby property owners.

The planning commission unanimously approved the request at its meeting June 7, he said.

Council also unanimously approved the request.

S&G Stores, headquartered in Sylvania, offers hot and cold sandwiches, bakery and frozen items, beverages, and snacks.

In June, council approved a rezoning request that will allow construction of an active-adult community at the southeast corner of Five Point Road and Ohio 25.
