Jean Lou Speck, age 89, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 7, 2024 at Otterbein Senior Living in Pemberville, Ohio.

She was born Jean Lou Frey on April 2, 1935 to Raleigh and May Frey in Gibsonburg, OH. Jean married John Raymond Speck on June 8, 1957. Jean and Ray raised 4 children and celebrated over 67 years of marriage together.

Throughout her younger years Jean was a talented seamstress, making her daughter’s clothes and Barbie doll clothes for her daughters and nieces. She later continued her love of sewing by making quilts for family members and volunteered making quilts with her church. She was also an avid bowler for 20 years at the previous Everglades Bowling Alley in Perrysburg. She has been a lifelong member of Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church.

Jean and Ray’s greatest joy was going to hundreds of athletic games to watch their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren participate in.

Jean is survived by her husband Raymond; children: Tammy (Randy) Weiland, Cheryl (Bill) Riffner, Robert (Roxanne) Speck; grandchildren: Chad (Amanda) Weiland, Stacey (Adam) Loomis, Corey (Megan) Weiland, Brett (Megan) Riffner, Keith (Molly) Riffner, Nathan (Marlena) DiPillo, Cassie Speck (Mark Slaktoski) and John Speck. Great-grandmother of 14: Eli, Evan, Miranda. Addy, Brooke, Connor, Cara, Max, Hadley, Kase, Makenna, Cooper, Greyson and Skyler. Sisters: Marilyn Weyant of Burgoon, OH and Rita Lemke of Gibsonburg, OH. Sister -in-law: Belva Smith of Columbus, OH. Numerous nieces and nephews along with her special lifelong friends Ruth Dennis and Dot Sarver.

Proceeding her in death are her parents, daughter Becky (Filippo) DiPillo brothers: Robert Frey and Roger Frey, brothers-in-law: Gordon Lemke and Glen Weyant, sisters-in-law: Martha Thornton and Margaret Frey.

Family and friends will be received 4-7 p.m., Sunday, August 11, 2024 at Marsh & Marsteller Funeral Home, 110 Main Street in Luckey.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Monday with additional visitation from 10 a.m., until service time at Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church, 22552 Carter Road, Bowling Green, (Dowling) Ohio. Interment will be in New Belleville Cemetery in Dowling OH immediately following. Officiating will be Pr. Bob Noble.

The family requests that memorials take the form of contributions to: Christ Evangelical Church in Dowling, Ohio or Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
