Bowling Green Police were dispatched Wednesday to the 1400 block of East Wooster Street for a report of a possible stolen vehicle.

The vehicle, a 2022 Ford Expedition with a Utah plate, was involved in a strong arm robbery at a store parking lot in Howell, Michigan. Livingston County (Michigan) Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) labeled it as a “felony vehicle” and requested it be held for fingerprint identification, according to the Bowling Green Police Division report.

When officers were dispatched around 7:05 p.m., they found the vehicle unoccupied in a hotel parking lot, according to the report.

Officers were later advised by dispatch that the vehicle was not stolen. The LCSO advised that two males in their 40s were driving around targeting people “who looked wealthy,” according to the report.

Officers assisted the LCSO with identifying the subjects. An individual left an ID either on a table or at the front desk of the hotel, matching one of the subjects, according to the report.

Three males, two females and a male child were believed to have been traveling together with three vehicles. Around 9:35 p.m., all of the individuals loaded up into the three vehicles and heading south on Interstate 75.

Later that night, the hotel manager called the police station to report that the individual who left the ID had not paid for their room because their credit card on filed was declined, according to the report.

Around 12:36 a.m., the wife of the individual who left his ID picked it up at the police station, stating they would take care of the room payment.
