The city on Wednesday provided an update to current construction projects.

Residential Paving Project

The 2024 paving project associated with the use of ARPA funds and the paving of residential roads began in early May. This portion of the project included the milling and repaving of Pearl Street, between Wintergarden Road and Church Street, and Sand Ridge Road, between Wintergarden and Main Street. Paving and striping are complete. Manhole adjustments remain.

Gypsy Lane Paving Project

This project involved the milling and paving of two segments of Gypsy Lane Road. The first was West Gypsy Lane Road from Sand Ridge Road to approximately 125 West Gypsy Lane Road and the second was East Gypsy Lane Road from the east side of the I-75 overpass to South Dunbridge Road. Milling and repaving is complete. Striping will be completed as part of a larger citywide striping program within the next one-two weeks.

South Main Street Water Line Improvement Project

This project involves the replacement of water line from Gypsy Lane to Ordway Avenue. Approximately 2,600 linear feet of water line is installed from Gypsy Lane to Napoleon. The contractor will continue to the north installing main line from Napoleon to Ordway. Once the water main install is completed, the contractor will begin installing water services tying the existing businesses and homes into the new water line.

Access to businesses will be maintained throughout the duration of the project. Ongoing lane restrictions and intermittent closures at intersections will be necessary as work progresses.

This is part of a two phased project that will extend into 2025. Water line improvement work will be completed this year, with paving along South Main Street, from Ordway to the southern corporation line, to follow in 2025. This project also includes ADA ramp improvements, a separated shared use path along the west side of South Main (from Gypsy Lane to Napoleon), traffic signal replacement and road widening at the South Main/Napoleon intersection, and the installation of two Pedestrian Hybrid Beacons between Gypsy Lane and Napoleon.

100 Block of Pearl Street Water/Sewer Infrastructure Upgrade Project

The installation of new water and sewer infrastructure is complete. Repairs to curbs and driveway approaches are also complete. Final restoration and pavement are expected to follow in the next week.
