One driver died in a two-vehicle crash this afternoon in Wood County.
According to the Wood County Sheriff’s Office, the crash occurred shortly before 2:30 p.m. at the intersection of Ohio 25 and Mermill Road.
A Chevy Malibu, driven by Cassy Shank, 50, Risingsun, was eastbound on Mermill Road and failed to yield at Route 25 to a northbound GMC pickup truck operated by Michael Spangenberg, 57, North Baltimore.
Shank, who was not wearing a seatbelt, succumbed to her injuries on scene. An 11-year-old passenger in her vehicle was flown by ProMedica air ambulance to Toledo Hospital with severe but non-life-threatening injuries.
Spangenberg was transported to Wood County Hospital with minor injuries.
The crash is under investigation.
Assisting at the scene were Mid-County 120 EMS, Weston EMS and Central Joint Fire Department.
