Northwood man indicted for allegedly trafficking in cocaine

A Northwood man has been indicted for allegedly manufacturing and selling cocaine.

A Wood County grand jury on Wednesday indicted Michael Clayton Cooper, 34, for two counts trafficking in cocaine, one a first-degree felony and one a second-degree felony; two counts of possession of cocaine, one a first-degree felony and one a third-degree felony; and illegal manufacture of drugs, a first-degree felony.

On April 10, the Toledo Police Vice Narcotics Unit notified Northwood police of receiving reliable information from a confidential informant that Cooper was trafficking in cocaine in the greater Toledo metropolitan area.

On April 12, Northwood police used a confidential informant to purchase cocaine from Cooper. The informant entered, and then a short time later, exited a Dodge Durango belonging to Cooper. The informant provided officers with a bag of crack cocaine which he allegedly purchased from Cooper.

On April 22, Northwood police conducted a trash search of a refuse can located directly outside Cooper’s home and uncovered multiple plastic baggies with the corners cut off and containing an unknown white residue.

A search warrant of the Durango and Cooper’s home was executive on July 12. Cooper was stopped in his vehicle and was found in possession of 22 bags of cocaine, a digital scale and $592 in cash. A search of the home revealed additional 60 grams of cocaine and multiple Suboxone strips, a digital scale and other equipment used for manufacturing powder cocaine into crack cocaine.

One trafficking and the manufacturing charges indicate the alleged offenses were committed in the vicinity of a juvenile.

If found guilty, he may have to forfeit the digital scales, two cell phones, the $592 in cash.

After a lengthy chase, a Detroit man was arrested for trafficking in heroin.

Jaevon Lamar Johnson, 22, was indicted for failure to comply with an order or signal of a police office, a third-degree felony; trafficking in heroin and possession of heroin, both second-degree felonies; trafficking in a fentanyl-related compound and possession of a fentanyl-related compound, both third-degree felonies; and operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol, a drug of abuse or a combination of them (OVI), a first-degree misdemeanor.

On June 27, an Ohio State Highway Patrol trooper initiated a traffic stop in Allen County for speed, but the suspect did not stop. According to court paperwork, the suspect fled at speeds greater than 100 through Hancock County and into Wood County before he crashed near the I-75 northbound rest area south of Bowling Green.

After a foot pursuit, the suspect, identified as Johnson, was taken into custody. It was determined he was driving while under the influence of alcohol or a drug.

He allegedly was found in possession of and was preparing for distribution between 10 and 50 grams of cocaine and was allegedly found in possession of and was preparing for distribution between 5 and 10 grams of a fentanyl-related compound.

Antonio Clarence Lamar Allen, 32, Toledo, was indicted for trafficking in marijuana and aggravated possession of drugs, both fifth-degree felonies.

On Oct. 20, 2022, he allegedly was found in possession of and was preparing for distribution more than 200 grams of marijuana.
