Mary L. Swain, 91, of Muscatine, passed away on Monday, June 17, 2024, at UnityPoint Health in Rock Island.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, July 29, 2024 at the Graham Cemetery in Wayne, Ohio.

Memorials may be directed to the Church of Christ in memory of Mary. Online condolences can by left for the family at www.sandhfuneralservice.com.

Mary Lou Ohler was born September 10, 1932, in Wayne, Ohio, the daughter of Rolla J. and Mabel (Karns) Ohler.

On Oct. 12, 1957, Mary was united in marriage to Billie J. Swain, in Dillon, South Carolina.

She was formerly employed by Western Union, Ohio; Bowling Green Sentinel Tribune; Pax Distributing Co, Milan, Il; Hancock County Treasurer’s office and the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Findlay, Ohio. Mary served as first president of the Hancock County Genealogical Society, Findlay, Ohio; was a past treasurer of Public Employee Inc, Findlay; and was a former member of the Wayne Garden Club of Wayne, Ohio.

Mary enjoyed singing with the Hancock Harmonizers, Findlay, and also sang with the Sweet Adelines Pearl City Chapter of Muscatine. She was a former volunteer with Bridge Home Health and Hospice, Findlay; and also for Unity Hospice, Muscatine. Mary was a member of Church of Christ in Muscatine.

Mary will be deeply missed by her daughter, Rose (Terry) Morris of Illinois City, IL; brother, Glen (Patricia) Ohler of Wayne, Ohio; grandson, Brett (Lindsey) Morris of Farley; great-grandson, Everhett Mitchell Morris; stepgrandson, Joshua (Mimi) Morris; stepgreat-granddaughter, Dawson Morris; stepgranddaughter, Mandie (Eric) Stouffer and many nieces and nephews.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; sisters, Anna Davies and Elsie McCoy, brother, William (Audrey) Ohler; niece, Jan Ohler and nephew, Gary Ohler.
