Bill Basil Warner, 85, of Blissfield, MI, and Sebring, FL, was called home by the Lord on July 12, 2024, at Hospice of Lenawee in Adrian, MI.

Bill was born on June 1, 1939, to Ruth and Basil Warner in Bowling Green, OH.

In 1950, Bill met Sharon Garner in Jerry City, OH. Bill claimed that he fell in love with Sharon when he saw her roller skating down the street in pigtails. They were married in 1957 and enjoyed a loving partnership for nearly seven decades.

Bill and Sharon were blessed with four children: Cindy Gillen (Jeff), Bill (Tanya), Todd (Andrea), and Chris (Tracey). Their family grew to include nine grandchildren: Miranda Warner Brill, Andrew Warner, Aaron Warner, Jacob Warner, Alex Warner, Emily Warner, Sarah Gillen, Matthew Warner, and Brady Warner, and seven great-grandchildren.

Their beloved dog Joey was also an important part of the family.

Bill was predeceased by his brother, Gary Warner, his parents, Ruth and Basil, and his sister, Linda Warner Myles.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Sharon; his children; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and cherished dog, Joey. He is also survived by his sisters, Francis (David) Lewis, Melody (Dean) Pees, and his brother, Terry (Kathi) Warner.

He loved spending time with his family, playing his bass guitar, and puttering around his garage and yard. Bill had great faith in God and our Savior Jesus Christ, and was a member of various churches throughout his life. He was known for his sense of humor and extensive catalog of “Dad jokes,” which brought smiles and laughter to all who knew him.

Bill devoted his entire career to Gleaner Life Insurance Society, beginning in 1965 as an agent and then in 1971 as its first supervisor of fraternal activities. He became Vice President of Fraternal Activities in 1976 and retired in 2001. Bill was later elected to the Board of Directors and served as the Chairman of the Board from 2011 until 2013.

No service will be held in honor of Bill’s wishes.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Spring Lake Presbyterian Church, 5887 US Highway 98, Sebring, FL 33876; or Hospice of Lenawee, 1903 Wolf Creek Highway, Adrian, MI 49221.
