Veteran musician performs at Rhythm on the River

GRAND RAPIDS — The next program of the Rhythm on the River Arts Series will be presented by the Duane Malinowski Orchestra at 4 p.m. on Sunday.

The programs are held in the Wright Pavilion located on the towpath between the canal and the Maumee River at the end of Lincoln Street behind LaRoe’s Venue. They are sponsored by the Historical Society of Grand Rapids.

Duane Malinowski has entertained audiences across the nation for over 40 years. As a musician and vocalist, he performs over 150 dates a year, performing all kinds of music. Through the years, he has mastered his own style of music and is easily identifiable from anyone else. Along with his unique style of polkas, waltzes and obereks, Malinowski can thrill his audiences with the sounds of big band, country, jazz, rock and roll, and ‘50s and ‘60s styles of music. As an accomplished accordionist, he also can sing in five languages.

Performing with Duane will be his son Duane, Jr., James Hatfield, and Dick Zunkiewicz.

The concert is free, so bring your lawn chairs or blankets. In case of inclement weather, the program will be moved farther west on Front Street to the Old Fire Station.
