A Cincinnati man accused of kidnapping has been indicted for attempting to intimidate a witness.

A Wood County grand jury on July 10 indicted Langston Harvey Campbell, 27, currently in jail, for intimidation of an attorney, victim or witness in a criminal case, a third-degree felony; menacing by stalking, a fourth-degree felony; and telecommunications harassment, a first-degree misdemeanor.

From Feb. 14 to July 1, he allegedly used a telephone to threaten to harm or attempt to intimidate the woman he was accused of kidnapping earlier this year.

His alleged actions reportedly caused the woman to believe Campbell would cause her serious physical harm.

Campbell was indicted in February for two counts kidnapping, both first-degree felonies; tampering with evidence, a third-degree felony; disrupting public services, a fourth-degree felony; and possessing criminal tools, a fifth-degree felony.

On Feb. 14, deputies with the Wood County Sheriff’s Office stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation in Cygnet at approximately 12:20 p.m.

The driver was identified as Campbell. There was a female passenger sitting in the back seat of the vehicle and the Wood County Sheriff’s Office sergeant and a new patrol deputy, who was in training, took the initiative to separate the female from the driver.

It was reported during a previous court hearing that the woman had severe facial trauma and had two broken ribs and a fractured vertebra. She told officers she had been held against her will since January.

Deputies learned the 29-year-old female had been reported missing on Jan. 10 by her mother in San Bernardino, California. While interviewing the female during the traffic stop, they determined that she and her 2-year-old son had been kidnapped and held against their will in Detroit as well as in Port Huron, Michigan.

Campbell remains in jail with no bond.
