Wood County Sheriff Mark Wasylyshyn will become Santa as the sheriff’s department and Kroger collaborate to launch “Santa on Patrol.”

Christmas in July is Saturday and is meant to bring the community together and spread joy by surprising residents with a gift card to Kroger.

During the event, sheriff’s deputies will identify residents and provide them with a gift card to Kroger, allowing them to enjoy a shopping experience at their local Kroger store.

“The Wood County Sheriff’s Office is pleased to partner with Kroger to celebrate Christmas in July,” said Wasylyshyn. This is a great example of Kroger and the sheriff’s office partnering to have a positive interaction with the public. We love helping and serving our community.”

“Santa on Patrol is all about bringing the community together and collaborating with local sheriffs to surprise and delight,” said Mark Bruce, corporate affairs manager for Kroger’s Columbus Division. “By replacing minor infractions with a gift card to Kroger, we aim to spread joy and show our shared dedication to the communities we serve.”

This initiative not only aims to bring a smile to the faces of those who receive the gift cards but also highlights the importance of community engagement and collaboration between local businesses and law enforcement agencies. By working together, Kroger and local sheriffs hope to create a positive impact and foster a sense of unity within the community

Kroger also is working with the sheriff’s offices in Sandusky County; Roanoke, Virginia; and Genesee County, Michigan.
