Meet local children’s author at the library

Local author Carole Sarkan will visit the Wood County District Public Library.

Join the Wood County District Public Library to meet local children’s author Carole Sarkan on Saturday at 2 p.m. in the 1st Floor Meeting Room at the Bowling Green library.

Sarkan is the author of “And Candy Smiled,” a Caldecott Award nominee, and the sequel, “And Candy Lived.”

Sarkan was a teacher from Bowling Green for 35 years, and currently lives in Grand Rapids, She comes from a family of artists with her grandparents being professors and song writers and her parents being teachers and musicians. She has always had a passion for writing, music, history and art.

Since the age of 6, she always wanted to write children’s books, and in partnership with author Emily Christoff-Flowers, she finally achieved that dream and began writing about her English springer spaniel dog, Candy.

Her newest book, “Aunt Mary’s Pottery,” is about a potter named Mary Grabill who was an established artist in Florida and made her life creating pottery, despite her issues with arthritis and polio.
