Elizabeth M Holt, known affectionately as “Tig” to her family, passed away suddenly on June 18, 2024 at her home in Tucson, AZ.

A daughter of the late John D and Joanne (Zimmer) Holt of Bowling Green, OH, she was born July 5, 1965, in Massillon, OH. Tig was a 1983 graduate of Bowling Green High School and attended Bowling Green State University.

As a child, she had a courageous heart and impetuous spirit. There was nothing she enjoyed more than exploring the neighborhood on her Schwinn Sting Ray or climbing trees. She swam competitively and was also an equestrienne. As an adult, she enjoyed four wheeling in the desert and camping.

A resident of Tucson for over 20 years, she and her partner Karl F Smith were entrepreneurs, at one time owning and operating one of the most successful DirecTV franchises in the country. Their success was rewarded with multiple cruise vacations all over the world; cruising was something she later enjoyed with her mother and sister Christine.

However, there was nowhere she loved more than Maine, especially Drakes Island. This was her happy place and where she felt the most connected with her family. She was an animal lover, especially of her pups and bunnies. She was smart, loved reading, and had a passion for observing both nature and the weather. An accomplished cook and detailed homemaker, she enjoyed nesting. Her keen sense of humor and hearty belly laugh will be deeply missed.

She is survived by her partner Karl F Smith, Tucson, AZ; a sister Christine Holt, Mount Prospect, IL; a brother John D Holt Jr (Nicky) and a niece Mrs. Sophia Frost (Isaac), and a nephew Ansel “Gus” Holt; along with uncles, aunts, cousins, and more distant family.

A private service will be held in the early fall.

Memorials may be made in her name with the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) now known as Breakthrough T1D.
