Recycle aluminum cans for BG BOOM

0

The Bowling Green Chamber of Commerce Foundation has announced a new addition to the Aluminum Can Recycling Program fundraiser in support of the BG BOOM Festival and Fireworks.

BG BOOM is the Bowling Green community’s annual Independence Day celebration, taking place July 3 with a festival at the Wood County Fairgrounds from 4-9 p.m. and the fireworks display at dusk.

The Aluminum Can Recycling Program was started in partnership with Bates Recycling several years ago and has consistently raised several thousand dollars for this community event. The seasonal can drive program continues through June 30; recycle your aluminum cans at Bates Recycling Center (12729 Jerry City Road in Cygnet) and Bates will donate $0.05 to the chamber foundation for every pound recycled when you mention BG BOOM.

In addition to the seasonal can recycling program, the chamber foundation is now offering year-round can drop off at several sponsor locations:

• Work Leads to Independence (WLI) – 991 S. Main St. in Bowling Green. Drop off hours are 9 a.m. – 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Drop off at the south entrance to the right of the large overhead door.

• Gas & Express Mart BG Marathon – 525 N. Main St. in Bowling Green. Gas & Express Mart’s location will be accessible 24/7.

More locations soon to come.

Aluminum cans collected through these receptacles will be recycled by Bates Recycling, and the chamber foundation will split the payout 50/50 with WLI to aid their outreach and activities.

To learn more about the amenities offered in exchange for a $750 sponsorship, or if your organization would be interested in sponsoring your own can drop off receptacle, visit the chamber website at www.bgchamber.net/bg-boom-can-drive/ or call our office at 419-353-7945.
