On May 8, a Rossford police officer observed a Volkswagen Jette operated by Blue fail to signal when passing lanes and traveling at 79 mph in a 65-mph zone on Interstate 75. When the officer activated his lights, the vehicle sped away, weaving in and out of traffic.

The Jetta exited at Wales Road, turned right then left onto Oregon Road and reentered I-75 northbound at Miami Street, where Perrysburg Township entered the pursuit.

As they neared to I-475 spit, a sedan moved from the left lane to the right lane and was struck by the Jetta. The Jetta jumped onto the berm, took out a sign and the driver attempted to exit the vehicle.

The Rossford officer used the cruiser to box him in and Blue jumped on the hood of the cruiser and attempted to take off on food. He gave up and fell to the ground and was taken into custody.

He told police he fled because his license had expired, according to court documents.
