Bowling Green head football coach Scot Loeffler and the Falcon football program are hosting the second annual Bowling Green Women’s Football Clinic on Thurs., June 20. The event runs from 5:30-8 p.m. at Doyt Perry Stadium.

The idea was created by Stephanie Paris, wife of BGSU Athletic Director Derek van der Merwe, and Amie Loeffler, wife of BGSU head football coach Scot Loeffler. They got together and were inspired by other schools that have done the same event.

“When Derek and Stephanie moved here, Stephanie and I got together at Juniper (Brewing Company on Main St., BG) and we were just talking about things that had succeeded at other universities we had been at,” Amie Loeffler said.

“While trying to create some excitement for the community, this is what we landed on. We had both been a part of something like this in the past, and it needed to be a part of the Bowling Green community.” Loeffler said.

From that Juniper cup of coffee came the panning process and the goal of getting 100 women involved in the camp, which they did that first year.

It was not a hard process for Paris and Loeffler, who had already been a part of these programs before. This year, their goal is 200 women and girls, and they welcome those of all ages, from young women to seniors.

“It is not just about the ladies learning more about each position but also building friendships, networks, and bringing the BG family even closer., Loeffler said.

The clinic gives participants the opportunity to spend time with BGSU football coaches and players for a night of football fun.

Activities include touring the facility, running drills designed by the coaches, learning plays and the opportunity to mingle and take pictures with coach Loeffler, BGSU football players and assistant coaches.

Cost of the event is $75, which includes a t-shirt, hors d’oeuvres and refreshments. By attending this event or making an additional donation, you are supporting the nutritional needs of our student-athletes throughout the year.

BGSU Football supplies each player with two meals per day on every training day. The organizers order meals directly from community restaurants and partners to continue support of local businesses and the Bowling Green community.

After the clinic, participants will have the chance to chat with the players and coaches while enjoying some hors d’oeuvres, refreshments, and prizes will be raffled off at 8 p.m. Please note that attendees must be 18 years old or older to participate.
