Multiple vehicles damaged by suspected BBs

Over the weekend, Bowling Green police handled multiple damage complaints – including vehicle windows and security cameras — caused by a BB gun.

On Friday, Bowling Green Police responded to the area of East Clough Street and South Mercer Road for a criminal damaging complaint.

When officers arrived around 12:17 a.m., the driver of the vehicle stated that they were heading westbound on East Clough near Mercer Road when a BB hit their front operator’s window, causing it to break, according to the Bowling Green Police Division report.

Multiple officers checked the area but were unable to locate who shot the BB at the vehicle.

Officers responded to the 300 block of Campbell Hill Road around 6:13 p.m. and spoke with the owner of a vehicle that had been damaged. Officers observed significant damage to the front windshield, according to the police report.

The vehicle owner stated that they noticed the damage earlier in the day before they had left for work and only had time to report it when they got off work. The damage looked to be caused by a pellet gun of some sort, according to the report.

Also on Friday, around 9:38 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 200 block of South Mercer Road for a vehicle that had two windows damaged sometime after 7 p.m. While looking at the windows, officers saw what appeared to be a hole where a BB or airsoft round struck them, causing the windows to break. Officers saw no BBs at the location, according to the report.

While still on this call, officers were alerted to another damaged window report. The caller stated that their vehicle had a window that was recently damaged. While looking at the window, officers saw what appeared to be a hole where a BB struck it, causing the windows to break, according to the report.

Officers saw a copper-colored BB lying on the front passenger seat.

On Friday, around 10:20 p.m., police observed a grey vehicle with two damaged passenger-side windows near the 200 block of South Mercer Road. Officers observed no BBs at the scene.

When officers arrived at the 300 block of Campbell Hill Road around 10:39 p.m., the caller told police that their Ring doorbell had been damaged. Officers observed that there were multiple holes in the doorbell camera, appearing to have been shot with a BB gun, according to the police report.

Officers checked nearby cameras and found they were unable to record the incident, according to the report.

While checking the area, officer found a Toyota Yaris with two damaged windows, a Ford truck with multiple windows shot and broken and a U-Haul truck with a BB hole in the front windshield, all in the 300 block of Campbell Hill Road.

Currently, there are no known suspects, according to the report.
