Lake, Otsego, Elmwood, Rossford athletes head to state

DAYTON — Lake girls track is sending five qualifiers to this weekend’s Division II state track meet at the University of Dayton’s Welcome Stadium.

Brianna Braatz qualified in the 200- and 100-meter runs, Savannah Little qualified in the 400, and rhe Flyers qualified their 4×200 and 4×100 relay teams.

Otsego has three qualifiers — Leah McCabe in the high jump, Molly Kramer in the 100 hurdles, and Brooke Simon in the discus, and Rossford is sending Mia DeBortoli to compete in the 200.

Elmwood has two qualifiers in the D-II boys state meet — Jakob Zibbel in the 1600 and Micah Oliver in the high jump.

At the Lexington regional, Braatz finished second in the 200 (25.13) and third in the 100 (12.23) and Little finished third in the 400 (56.85).

The Flyers’ 4×200 relay team won a regional championship in 1:42.73, and the 4×100 relay team team finished in 49.72, good for fourth after finishing in seventh place at 50.11 seconds in the preliminaries.

Lake’s Vayda Delventhal leaped 16 feet, 5 inches in the long jump to finish in seventh place. The top four automatically qualify for the state meet.

DeBortoli placed fourth in the 200 with a time of 25.57 seconds after placing fifth in the preliminaries (25.73).

At the Piqua regional, Simon won the discus championship with a throw of 133-1, but she finished sixth in the shot put with a toss of 37-3½.

After placing sixth in the preliminaries, Kramer finished second in the regional 100 hurdles with time of 15.57. Leah McCabe cleared 5-4 in the finals to finish third in the high jump.

Otsego’s Kaitlin Gardner was sixth in the 100 hurdles (16.47), Faith Keifer was 10th in the 300 hurdles (47.29), Kayla McCabe cleared five feet in the high jump to finish in sixth, Addysen Limes was 16th in the pole vault, clearing eight feet, and Ella Hartman was 10th in the shot put (34-7).

In the boys regional at Lexington, Oliver placed third in the high jump, clearing 6-4, and Zibbel was fourth in the 1600 with a time of 4:27.74. Zibbel was also 13th in the 3200 (10:40.36) and Dylen Armentrout was 12th in the 1600 (4:42.02).
