Feeding of wildlife ordinance discussed

The Transportation & Safety Committee of Bowling Green City Council will hold a public meeting on June 3 at 6 p.m. in council chamber, 305 N. Main St. Public comment will be valued, needed, and heard.

The topic is Ordinance 9196 which was sponsored by the city administration and assigned to the Transportation & Safety Committee. The ordinance is an initial version of safety-related legislation which would prohibit outdoor feeding of certain animals (including wild animals).

Committee Chair William Herald encourages feedback prior to and at the meeting. He requests that e-mail be directed to him ([email protected]) so that a list of concerns/questions/suggestions can be compiled and researched prior to the public meeting.

The goal is to further refine definition of the problem, identify potential tradeoffs, and discern community preferences so that a multifaceted solution can be fashioned (including the possible legislation).

Public input and insight is vital to that process.
