Perrysburg sends 3 runners, 3 relays to state

PORT CLINTON — Perrysburg junior Ava Beeks, sophomore Camille Francis and senior Hannah Kersten, along with three relay teams qualified to the state meet this weekend after their performances at the Division I regional track meet.

At the regional meet Friday, Kersten placed second in the 3200-meter run with a time of 10:45.94, Camille Francis finished in third in the 3200 (44.36), and Ava Beeks was fifth in the 800 (2:14.58).

Kersten was just over 10 seconds behind the regional champion, Avon sophomore Kaitlyn Reese (10:35.77).

Perrysburg’s 4×400 relay team won a regional championship (3:56.72), the 4×800 finished second (9:17.01) and the 4×100 finished third (49.14) with all three qualifying for state.

In the team scores, Perrysburg finished as regional runner-up, scoring 49 points to place behind Avon (55).

The rest of the top 10 included Toledo Whitmer (42½), Rocky River (34), Strongsville (33), Springfield (31), Brunswick and Lakewood tied with 26 points, Amherst Steele (24½), and Wadsworth and Avon Lake were tied with 23 points.
