The Mid-American Conference announced that Bowling Green State University baseball player Isaiah Seidel earned Pitcher of the Week recognition, his first of the season.

This is the third time this season BGSU has received the award with D.J. Newman being named on Feb. 26 and Nic Good on March 11.

The Falcons have now had seven awards this season with Tyler Ross being named the MAC Player of the Week on March 11 and 25, Jack Krause earning it on March 18 and Nathan Archer receiving the recognition on April 22.

Seidel was lights out in Thursday’s win over Toledo for BGSU. Seidel entered the sixth inning with the game tied and the bases loaded and registered a strikeout to end the inning.

Seidel maintained his momentum through three-plus innings of work, allowing just one hit and one walk while keeping Toledo batters to a .091 batting average. After Seidel entered, Toledo failed to score the rest of the game, granting Seidel the win in the 3-1 final for the Falcons.

The Falcons will compete in the MAC Tournament later this week as the top seed. BGSU’s first game will be on Thursday at 2 p.m. with the opponent being the lowest seed to win from the slate of games on Wednesday.
