PERRYSBURG — Opening day of the Perrysburg Farmers Market will be held Thursday with a ribbon cutting to celebrate its 25th year.

Five of the original vendors who are still with the Perrysburg Farmers Market will be at the ribbon cutting, along with the first Convention and Visitors Bureau Director, Vicki Stouffer, who brought the Farmers Market idea to Perrysburg.

“Vicki’s vision and determination brought this fresh idea to Perrysburg that has now become the signature event for our community,” said city Councilman Mark Weber.

The ribbon cutting will be at 3 p.m. in front of 214 Louisiana Ave.

The first Perrysburg Farmers Market was held in 1999 and had only six vendors. Today, the market has 60 vendors and 20 food trucks. 15 of those vendors are farmers, which is six more than participated last year.

The Perrysburg Farmers Market is organized by Visit Perrysburg. The market runs every Thursday from 3 to 8 p.m. May 9 through Oct. 10.

Music at the Market starts June 6 at 7 p.m. in the Commodore Schoolyard located at the corner of Louisiana and Indiana and runs through the end of August.
