Perrysburg Twp. prepares for eclipse

LIME CITY — Perrysburg Township is preparing for Monday’s total solar eclipse.

At their meeting Wednesday, trustees learned that four sign boards stating “No Parking, Please Keep Moving” will be placed at Lime City Road and US 20 westbound, Route 20 eastbound of the expressway, Ohio 795 and Oregon Road and Route 795 at the Crossroads.

There also will be a large sign board on Ohio 120 advising people to stay home due to heavy traffic.

Additional plans include:

• Additional portable restrooms provided, in conjunction with the City of Perrysburg, at the Lowe’s parking lot between Lowe’s and Kohl’s along with the Meijer gas station parking lot

• Fully staffed police and fire departments

• Police cruiser and ambulance parked along Route 20

• 50 barricades if needed

• Mercy Hospital in Perrysburg will have a mobile helicopter and mobile intensive care unit at their facility

Also during the meeting, trustees:

• Approved curb work on Holiday Lane, at the end of Georgia Road and Creekside Court. Trustees recieved a quote from Quinn’s Concrete to complete the project at a cost of $35,000.

• Swore in Gretchen Welch as fiscal officer.

• Learned Flock cameras will be installed by the end of the month.

• Purhased a new skid steer for the recycling department at a cost of $5,550.

• Approved an agreement with the City of Perrysburg to pay for the township’s portion of two shared roads for the 2024 Resurfacing Program. The cost to the township is $48,000 for Holiday Lane and $73,100 for Georgia Road.
