State placers: Rossford’s Reinhart places fourth at girls wrestling

COLUMBUS — Rossford junior Noel Reinhart finished fourth at the girls state wrestling tournament at Ohio State University’s Schottenstein Center Friday through Sunday.

In the 110-pound class, Reinhart (33-9) opened by pinning New Philadelphia freshman Easton Miller (29-11) in 4:46.

Reinhart went on to pin her quarterfinal opponent, East Liverpool freshman Paige Cowan (38-8), in 3:25, but she was pinned in the semifinals to undefeated Steubenville freshman Talea Guntrum (38-0), the eventual state champion, in 1:05.

In her first consolation, Reinhart defeated Brookville senior Molly Luebke (41-5), 7-1, but the Rossford wrestler fell in the third place match to New Richmond sophomore Charley Jones (47-5) by an 8-0 major decision.

In Division II at 175 pounds, Rossford senior Ayden Wilson (39-7) finished fifth. Wilson opened by pinning Hamilton Badin senior Zach Yordy (30-9) in 3:09.

Wilson then defeated Minerva junior Hunter Dietrich (40-7), 9-6, in the quarterfinals, but he lost to Woodridge senior Steven Duffy (50-2) by an 11-3 major decision in the semifinals.

In the consolation, Wilson was pinned by Columbus DeSales junior Andrew Barford (36-10) in 3:40, but Wilson won his fifth place match by pinning Beaver Local senior Gabe Morgan (28-7) in 4:59.

Otsego senior Trevor Wilcox (48-5) finished in fifth during the Division III 120-pound tournament.

Wilcox opened with a 3-2 victory against Wayne Trace junior Corbin Kimmel (42-8) and the Otsego wrestler followed with an 11-2 major decision win Sandy Valley senior Evan Natale (30-5).

In the semifinals, Wilcox lost to eventual state champion Logan Dean (37-2), a Bethel-Tate senior, by a 7-1 decision.

In the consolation, Wilcox lost to Shenandoah senior Tristan Rossiter (49-3), 11-6, and then Wilcox won his fifth place match against Legacy Christian junior Eli Campbell (28-10) by default.

At 150 pounds in D-III, Elmwood senior Thomas Tyson (42-10) placed sixth, opening by pinning Marion Elgin senior Kaiden Luikart (40-15) in 3:15.

Tyson then lost to Legacy Christian senior Brayden Brown (37-4) by a 19-4 technical fall in the quarterfinals.

In the consolation, Tyson pinned Miami East freshman K.J. Gustin (35-14) in 2:12 and then defeated Beachwood sophomore Caleb Greenwood (44-8), 4-3, but lost to Tuscarawas Valley senior T.J. Wilson (56-5) by a 12-2 major decision.

In the fifth place match, Tyson lost to Valley View senior Zeran Brady (39-9) by a narrow 12-11 decision.
