A Fostoria man has been indicted for allegedly forcing himself into a Bowling Green home to get the resident to drop charges against him.

A Wood County grand jury on March 6 indicted Jake Irvin Hoffman, 23, currently in jail, for burglary, a second-degree felony; menacing by stalking, a fourth-degree felony; and two counts of violating a protection order, one a third-degree felony and one a fifth-degree felony.

On Feb. 21, he allegedly tried to push his way into a home on Shannon Drive in an attempt to get a resident to drop charges against him. The resident told him to leave multiple times and pushed him out of the doorway at which time he attempted to hug and kiss her, according to court documents.

He allegedly engaged in a pattern of behavior that made the woman believe he would cause her physical harm and by allegedly going to the residence, he violated a protection order.

According to the indictment, Hoffman drove to the Shannon Drive residence after being charged with telephone harassment and being trespassed from the property.

Prior to this incident, Bowling Green police were dispatched to the residence on Jan. 14, 2023, and Jan. 15, 2024, regarding Hoffman creating problems for the resident.

Hoffman returned later on Jan. 15, led police on a pursuit then contacted the Bowling Green Police Division on social media.

He had previously been convicted of violating a protection order in 2023 in Hancock County.
