A Weston man died in a single-vehicle accident Sunday.
The Wood County Sheriff’s Office was notified of the crash on Ohio 281 and Solether Road around 7:30 p.m. The crash involved a 2005 Dodge pickup that was towing a 1994 GMC pickup with a tow strap.
The investigation showed the vehicles were traveling eastbound on Rt. 281 when the driver of the Dodge, Timothy Workman, Fostoria, turned northbound onto Solether Road at a slow rate of speed. The GMC pickup traveled off the right side of the road, into a ditch and overturned. The occupant of the vehicle, Alva Barnes, 78, Weston, was partially ejected from the passenger side of the truck and became trapped underneath.
He was pronounced deceased at the scene by EMS.
Assisting on location were Mid-County EMS, Central-Joint Fire District, Mercy Life Flight, the Ohio Department of Transportation and Franks’ Towing.
The incident is still under investigation.
