Rossford’s Wilson district runner-up, qualifies for state

NORWALK — Rossford senior Ayden Wilson (36-5) finished second at the Division II district tournament and will qualify for state this upcoming weekend at the Jerome Schottenstein Center on the campus of Ohio State University.

The top four at districts qualify for state. Bowling Green junior Hunter Kozlowicz (31-16) placed sixth at 285 pounds.

Rossford scored 21 points to finish tied for 21st place and BG scored 20 to finish in 24th. The top 10 were Wauseon (191½), Columbus DeSales (165½), Napoleon (148), Ontario (134½), Sandusky Perkins (127½), Clyde (86½), Wapakoneta (75½), Galion (75), St. Marys (68) and Bexley (66).

Wilson wins sectional title

SANDUSKY — Wilson won a sectional championship the previous weekend in Sandusky, defeating Clear Fork junior Blake Schossler (38-6) in the 175-pound final.

Rossford junior Noel Foels (24-12) finished third at 157, freshman Brice Nusbaum (18-18) was fourth at 106, and sophomore Aiden Farrell (14-11) was fourth at 113.

Rossford wrestlers placing fifth were freshman Dylan Shannak (10-10) at 132 adn senior Logan Walder (11-17) at 150.

In the sectional team standings Rossford was sixth with 109 points, finishing behind Perkins (258), Clear Fork (204), Norwalk (128), Vermilion (114), and Shelby (112).

Rounding out the team standings were Mansfield Madison (100½), Toledo Central Catholic (84), Maumee (73), Sandusky (51), Toledo Scott (21), Toledo Woodward (5), and Mansfield Senior (3).

BG’s Deiter, Coronel win sectional titles

CLYDE — At the D-II boys sectional tournament in Clyde, Bowling Green placed fourth, scoring 125½ points to finish behind Ontario (190½), Bellevue (180½) and Clyde (174½).

Lexington was fifth at 123 points, followed by Galion (117), Willard (76), Kenton (73½), Fostoria (65), Tiffin Columbian (54½), Upper Sandusky (35½), and Toledo Rogers (20).

BG junior Landon Deiter (33-13) won a 144-pound title by pinning Fostoria senior Matthew Balderama (38-11) in 3:51 in the championship match.

BG senior Ryan Coronel (21-11) defeated Kenton freshman Isaac Blevins (20-13) by an 11-6 decision to win the 165-pound championship.

BG sophomore Owen Rath (19-23) was a sectional runner-up at 215 pounds, Kozlowicz was runner-up at 285, and senior Paul Archer (24-22) finished in fourth place at 157 pounds.

Placing fifth were BG freshman Dajon Fields (14-18) at 106, senior Xavier Scott (17-18) at 132, senior Elie Baker (7-8) at 138,

BG wrestlers placing sixth were sophomore Owen LaPorte (11-11) at 113 and freshman Thomas Zemaitis (14-19) at 150.
