Lake Twp. to get recycling dropoff location

MILLBURY — Lake Township is getting a recycling dropoff location.

At the Jan. 16 trustees meeting, Administrator Mark Hummer, who is also police chief, reported that recycling bins will be placed in the back lot at the Walbridge fire station.

There will be five-seven dumpsters that will be emptied once a week, he said.

If usage is more than expected, the township may have to pay a fee of up to $150 per week for additional emptying of the bins, he said.

The dumpsters should be in place this spring. If usage is low, some may be removed.

Cameras may be put in to catch license plates if people abuse the purpose of the dumpsters, Hummer said.

This is a Wood County Solid Waste District project, and the township was put into a que to wait for the bins.

In other action, trustees:

• Purchased one Dell OptiPlex desktop computer from WTA Consulting, Toledo, for use by the zoning inspector for $1,042.67. It will replace a computer that was original to the building.

• Accepted the resignation of Jose Sandoval from the road department.

• Approved the purchase of three fire helmets from Atlantic Emergency Solutions, Manassas, Virginia, for $1,200. The helmets will be used by the fire department.

• Hired three people to serve on the township’s EMS squads.

Eric Kutchenriter and Felipe Aldana were hired as contingent firefighters/EMT for station 26. They will be paid $17.85 per hour.

Kendall Linnenkugel was hired on a probationary status and assigned to station 26. She will be paid $10.45 per hour.

• Heard fiscal officer John Ervin report he was completing audits for the May financials.

• Commended the firefighters and police officers who responded to the Bark N Lounge fire at 2 a.m. on Jan. 14 in 40 mph winds and subzero temperatures.
