Fire destroys rural BG home

The second fire in four months destroyed an unoccupied home on Monday.

The home at 21966 Pargillis Road was fully involved when Middleton Township fire crews arrived, said fire Chief Steve Asmus.

The home is a total loss, he said, and no injuries were reported.

Crews responded to the two-story home at 11:12 a.m. Monday. Mutual aid was requested from Bowling Green and Perrysburg fire departments.

Crews were on location for three hours, Asmus said.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the state fire marshal’s office, he said.

“We have no idea at this time,” he said about the cause.

The home was being renovated from a previous fire in October and the owners were in the process of moving things back in, he said.

The cause of the first fire was electrical, Asmus said.

Crews had to deal with southwest winds that were blowing 15-20 mph.

“That just helped fuel the fire,” Asmus said.
