Fostoria man sentenced for pandering

A Fostoria man has been sentenced to prison for sharing child pornography videos online.

Jeffrey Daniels, 46, appeared Thursday in the courtroom of Wood County Common Pleas Judge Joel Kuhlman.

He was indicted in March for two counts of pandering, one a second-degree felony and the other a fourth-degree felony; and possessing criminal tools, a fifth-degree felony.

In November, he pleaded guilty to the F2 pandering charge.

The remaining charges were dismissed.

On June 6, 2022, he shared on Facebook at least one video showing an obscene performance that had a minor as one of its participants.

Defense attorney Sara Roller said her client has enrolled in sex offender treatment in Napoleon. The group therapy will last two years, and she requested a sentence of community control to allow him to continue treatment.

Roller said Daniels has complied with all sexual registration as required after a previous prison sentence.

Daniels already was registered as a Tier II sex offender for a previous undisclosed charge.

Wood County Chief Assistant Prosecutor Pamela Gross said the Wood County Sheriff’s Office was alerted by the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force of child pornography being sent to Daniels’ computer.

Deputies found four videos, Gross said.

In presentence conversations, Daniels reportedly said he felt he was being targeted, Gross said.

The sheriff’s office didn’t seek him out, she said, but was alerted by ICAC.

Kuhlman said he had received several letters of support from Daniels’ neighbors and friends.

He said it was appropriate to sentence Daniels, who has served two years on a previous sex offense involving an 11-year-old, to prison.

He imposed a minimum prison sentence of seven years, but due to Reagan Tokes Act, the maximum is 10.5 years.

After his release, Daniels must register as a Tier III sex offender, which will require him to register every 90 days for life.
