Legion welcomes former guard for Tomb of the Unknown Soldier

GRAND RAPIDS — American Legion Post 232 will host guest speaker Robert Weinberg on Thursday at 7 p.m. at the post, 12540 S. River Road.

Weinberg was drafted into the U.S. Army on Sept. 11, 1969, and was assigned to The Old Guard honor guard. He served as a sentinel and relief commander at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier until he was discharged.

He also has served as Flag City Honor Flight president.

The presentation and a buffet served from 5-7 p.m. are both free and open to the public.
