Falcons drop exhibition to Windsor, 5-1

The Bowling Green State University hockey team (7-13) fell to the Windsor Lancers (13-8) by a score of 5-1 on Saturday night in Slater Family Ice Arena.

Josh Nodler tallied the lone goal for the Falcons with an assist from Gustav Stjernberg. The Falcons outshot the Lancers 36 to 25 while also seeing success on faceoffs with a 54.8 win percentage.

Johnny Ulicny scored the first goal of the night at 17:59 in the first period. Ulicny found a pass from behind the Falcon net and back handed the puck past Stoever.

Brady Hinz responded quickly and scored the second goal for the Lancers at 17 minutes in the first period. Hinz hit the puck in between the faceoff circles and found the 2-0 early in the first.

Nodler took the puck down the ice at 12:16 in the first period to score the only goal for the Falcons.

Will Ennis scored at 16:32 in the second period to lengthen the lead for the Lancers. Ennis shot the puck from the point and scored off of Stoever’s glove side.

Aaron Shaw scored a power-play goal at 12:32 in the second period. Shaw found the puck in front of Stoever in a scramble and found a way to pull the lead 4-1.

Barrett Dachyshyn scored the last goal of the game at 1:37 in the third period. Dachyshyn found the puck on a breakaway and shot it pass Eigner for a final score of 5-1.

Bowling Green hockey will play in a home-and-home series with Ohio State starting on Friday, January 5 at 7 p.m. in Value City Arena. The series will continue Saturday, January 6 at 7:07 p.m. in Slater Family Ice Arena.
