Pursuit of homicide suspect ends in N. Baltimore

A pursuit of a homicide suspect started in Michigan Tuesday and ended in North Baltimore.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol was advised the Michigan State Police was in pursuit of a possible homicide suspect on Interstate 75 southbound approaching the state line. Troopers responded to the area and took lead in the pursuit near Wales Road in Northwood at 11:58 a.m.

Law enforcement officers and troopers attempted to deploy stop sticks multiple times as the pursuit continued southbound, but were unsuccessful. At approximately 12:15 p.m., the suspect vehicle exited onto state Ohio 18 and pulled into the Love’s Travel Stop in North Baltimore.

The suspect fled on foot. Troopers and law enforcement officers quickly took him into custody.

The suspect, identified as Ronald Lamar McLaurin, 33, Warren, Michigan, was charged with failure to comply with the order or signal of a police officer and receiving stolen property, both felonies. He was medically cleared at a local hospital before being incarcerated at the Wood County Jail.

The Ford Escape McLaurin was driving was determined to be stolen.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted during the incident by the Michigan State Police, Perrysburg Township Police Department, U. S. Border Patrol, and North Baltimore Police Department.

The incident remains under investigation.
