Prep Roundup: Cornell leads Knights past Bobcats, 38-32

TONTOGANY — Otsego girls basketball pulled away in the fourth quarter to defeat visiting Bowling Green, 38-32, in a non-league game Thursday. Both teams are 2-7.

Jocelyn Cornell led the Knights with 15 points, Sam Lehr scored 11, Releigh O’Bryan scored eight points, and Sophie Dimick and Cailyn Rider added two points each.

After BG led by three points at the half, the Knights led by just two, 22-20, heading into the final stanza, but outscored the Bobcats 16-12 down the stretch.

Cornell hit a three-point shot and the Knights were 7-for-10 from the free throw line in the final quarter.

Lola Thompson led BG with 16 points, including two fourth quarter triple, Allison Fry scored six points, Macyn Dean-Scheele scored four points, and Anne Konecny, Megan Brinkman, and Lila Vanneman scored two points each.

Liberty Center 58, Elmwood 52

BLOOMDALE — Looking for their second straight win, Elmwood was tied with Liberty Center at 38-38 entering the fourth quarter, but the Tigers prevailed Thursday, 58-52. Elmwood falls to 1-4 and LC improves to 1-1.

Kade Lentz led Elmwood with 13 points, five rebounds and four assists, Evan Barringer scored 10 points, and London Snow and Landry Seedorf scored six points apiece.

Owen Traxler had four points and four assists, Micah Oliver and Owen Seedorf scored four apiece, Mitchel Oliver scored three points and Colton Bradford added two points.

For the Tigers, Gavin Grahlen led the way with 19 points, Landen Kruse scored eight points, and Colton Kruse, Seth Navarre, and Camden Robinson scored seven points apiece.

Liberty-Benton 55, Eastwood 34

FINDLAY — Liberty-Benton did not allow a single Eastwood player to reach double figures as the L-B Eagles defeated Eastwood’s Eagles, 55-34, in non-league boys basketball Thursday.

Carson Conaway led L-B with 15 points, Jake Gerken scored 12 and Seth Elchert scored nine points. L-B improves to 4-3 on the season while Eastwood falls to 4-2.

For Eastwood, Drew Luidhardt and Andrew Badenhop scored a team-high eight points apiece, Drew Kachmarik, Andre Lewis, Colton Souder, and Dayquan Oliver scored four points apiece, and Cam Schumaker added two points.

For L-B, Lincoln Holler scored five points, Jackson Hochstettler and Reid Thomas scored four points apiece, and Reid Irwin, C.J. Barbara, and Zach Elchert scored two points each.
