Senior forward James Bickley scored a hat trick-plus one (four goals) as the Lake hockey team opened Northwest Hockey Conference White Division play by defeating Springfield, 8-4, at Bowling Green State University’s Slater Family Ice Arena Saturday.
It was also the season opener for Lake and Springfield, which are both club teams.
Bickley, who attends Edison High School in Milan, Ohio, scored two goals in the second period and two in the third period, including the last three goals for Lake to put the game away. Bickley also had an assist.
Senior forward Bailey Coe (Otsego) had four assists for Lake and junior forward Boden Stoller (Defiance) and sophomore forward Spencer Varnes (Toledo Central Catholic) had one goal and one assist apiece.
Lake freshman forward Colin Rasmusson (Bowing Green Christian) and sophomore forward Mason Jardine (Patrick Henry) scored one goal apiece, and senior defensemen Dallas Staton (Eastwood) and Luke Vida (Whiteford, Mich.) and senior forward Ashton Graham (Springfield) had one assist apiece.
