Margaret A. Goeckerman, 98, of Genoa, Ohio passed away on Tuesday, November 14, 2023 at Genoa Retirement Village.
She was born on July 2, 1925 in Toledo, Ohio to Ernest and Ada (Drewyor) Allen Sr. Margaret was a graduate of Clay High School class of 1943 and in the following year married Clarence Goeckerman on January 20, 1944 in Latcha, Ohio with him preceding her in death on December 22, 1998.
She was known to many as a bank teller at the Walbridge branch of the former Exchange Bank, retiring in 1987.
Her memberships included: Zion Lutheran Church where she had taught Sunday school for over 20 years. She also was a member of Christ Dunberger Legion Post #153 Auxiliary, Oregon, Ohio, and she also enjoyed playing Euchre. Margaret truly enjoyed playing cards and had belonged to a Pinochle Club for 60 plus years. She was an excellent cook, treating her family and friends to her pies, poppy seed bread and other goodies.
Margaret is survived by her daughters: Lois Steensen of Perrysburg, Ohio, Cheryl (Charlie) LaPointe of Petersburg, Michigan, Cynthia (Bob) Lunsford of Massillon, Ohio, 5 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband: Clarence, son: Scott, grandson: Jonathon and infant brother: Ernest Allen Jr.
Family and friends will be received from 10 am – 11 am with funeral services at 11a.m. on Monday, November 20, 2023 at Zion Lutheran Church, 26535 Pemberville Road Perrysburg, Ohio. Officiating will be Rev. Dr. James Dumke. Interment will follow in Troy Township Cemetery, Luckey, Ohio.
Memorials may take the form of contributions to: Zion Lutheran Church or Hospice of Northwest Ohio. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Linzy and Tami for the excellent care given to their mom.
