Delventhal, Stanley join Dewese on All-NBC first team

Lake 5-foot-11 setter and outside hitter Taryn Dewese, a Vanderbilt University commit, was named Northern Buckeye Conference Player of the Year, but two other Flyers were first team All-NBC selections.

Lake senior setter and outside hitter Vayda Delventhal, a Cleveland State University commit, and Lake senior libero Sydney Stanley are also first team All-NBC.

Delventhal is set to the join the Vikings after leading Lake High School to four straight 20-win campaigns and four consecutive Northern Buckeye Conference championships.

As a four-time All-NBC honoree, Delventhal finished her prep career with 1,120-plus digs, 1,770-plus assists and 155-plus service aces.

Her senior year, Delventhal and Dewese led Lake to a 21-7 overall record, NBC championship, finishing 13-1, and the Division II regional final, where the Flyers lost to eventual state runner-up Gates Mills Gilmour Academy in four sets.

Delventhal had 166 kills, 56 aces, 13 block assists, a team-leading 335 digs, and a team-high 453 assists her senior year. For the Flyers, Stanley had 332 digs, 133 assists, one kill, and 28 aces.

In addition to her high school accolades, Delventhal also played club volleyball for Toledo Volleyball Club and Athlete Headquarters, qualifying for nationals during the 2021 and 2022 seasons.

Delventhal earned All-Academic honors all four years of her prep career, is set to graduate with an honors diploma, and plans on majoring in business management.

Joining them on the All-NBC first team are Eastwood senior middle hitter Nadia Miller and junior middle hitter Lilly Mulholand, Rossford senior outside hitter Olivia Rust, Otsego senior setter and opposite hitter Faith Keifer, and Maumee senior libero Bella Demers.

Miller and Mulholand led Eastwood to a 22-4 season, a 12-2 NBC record, and the D-III district tournament. Miller had 241 kills, 32 aces, 60 blocks (including 12 solo), 145 digs, and 20 assists. Mulholand finished with 214 kills, 85 blocks (including 13 solo), 19 digs, and five assists.

Rossford finished the season 10-14 and they were one of four NBC teams to reach the D-II district tournament, joining Lake, Otsego, and Maumee. Rust finished with a team high 358 kills, 35 aces, 19 blocks (including five solo), 240 digs, and seven assists.

Otsego finished 19-7 overall and 10-4 in the NBC. Keifer tallied 159 kills, 64 aces, 59 blocks (including eight solo), 318 digs, and 670 assists.

NBC second team selections are Lake junior defensive specialist Sydney Marchetto, Otsego senior outside hitter and defensive specialist Emily Genson, Eastwood senior setter Paige Hoodlebrink and freshman outside hitter Mackenna Miller, Oak Harbor senior middle hitter Reese Adkins, Genoa senior outside hitter and defensive specialist Lillian Frias, and Maumee junior middle blocker Autumn Draper.

Wood County honorable mention choices are Lake senior right side hitter Maura Deutschmann, freshman middle and right side hitter Mylah Vorst, and junior middle hitter Kiera Magers, Otsego senior middle blocker Kora Rollins and freshman defensive specialist and libero Molly Kramer, Rossford junior setter Sophia Shinavar and junior libero Bennett Murtha, and Eastwood junior defensive specialist Kyrie Henline.
