Hollywood screenwriter to discuss his work at UToledo

The University of Toledo Department of Theatre and Film will host a special event with professional screenwriter, Michael Gilio, who cowrote the screenplay for the 2023 film, “Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves,” on Friday.

The event, titled “Inside the Writing of ‘Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves,’” will include an interview and Q&A with Gilio, and runs from 6 to 7:15 p.m. in the UToledo Center for Performing Arts Recital Hall on the main campus.

Admission to the event is free. Doors open at 5:45 p.m. with first-come, first-served seating.

BG store holds ornament craft activity

The Bowling Green Tractor Supply store is inviting all the young artists out there to celebrate the upcoming holiday season with an ornament craft activity.

On Saturday from 11 a.m.-2 p.m., the store will host a craft event where young customers can decorate a Christmas ornament with stickers and other colorful extras, while supplies last. The interactive craft provides a fun way for youth to get in the holiday spirit with colorful ornaments in the shape of twinkling lights.

Once complete, each participant can take their free craft home to decorate their Christmas tree.

The store is located at 18201 N. Dixie Highway.

Johnsons Island Civil War Roundtable meets Sunday

Michael Gilbert of Toledo will present the subject Tecumseh, great American Indian leader to Johnsons Island CWRT on Sunday 4 p.m. at Trinity United Church of Christ, 131 E. Perry St., Tiffin, OH 44883

Born in Ohio near present-day Chillicothe, Tecumseh became a Shawnee chief and warrior who promoted resistance to the expansion of the US. A fine orator, he eventually formed an Indian Alliance which was very strong. This failed, but he became an iconic folk hero in American, Indigenous, and Canadian popular history.

Arts Commission announces holiday trunk show

TOLEDO – The Arts Commission has announced the upcoming Local Artists’ Holiday Trunk Show in conjunction with the Libbey House Foundation. The event will feature glass, metal, fabric, acrylic and ceramic artwork from local artists for sale with a portion of proceeds benefiting the Arts Commission’s programs.

Artists will be set up on the second and third floors of the historic Libbey House. Guests with mobility limitations will have access to accommodations to be able to view and purchase artwork. Light refreshments and beverages will be available throughout the day.

Preview night and early bird shopping is Friday from 5-8 p.m. with admission $25. The sale continues Saturday from 11 a.m.-6 p.m., with $10 admission, at the Edward D. Libbey House, 2008 Scottwood Ave.
