Friends of the Findlay library book sale

FINDLAY — The Friends of the Findlay-Hancock County Public Library will be holding a book sale on Friday from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. and Nov. 4 from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. in the Lindamood Room and the Blanchard Room at the library.

Books, CDs and DVDs that have been donated or withdrawn from the library’s collection are given a new life by the Friends as a result of their book sales. With reduced prices on books, music and movies, the sales are a bargain hunter’s dream.

Wood County Republican Women’s Club earns award

The National Federation of Republican Women awarded the Wood County Republican Women’s Club the highest award from NFRW, for club achievements, 2021 to 2023. This is the second time WCRW won this distinguished award and the only club in Ohio to do so twice in four years. This award was presented to Beverley Hirzel, president of WCRWC, at the Biennual Convention in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Sept. 29.

The National Federation of Republican Women’s mission is to provide a forum for all women to be key players at the political table on national, state and local issues. WCRWC strengthens the Republican Party by recruiting and electing candidates; advocating the party’s philosophy and initiatives; and empowering women of all ages, ethnicities and background in the political process.

Sylvania Community Orchestra goes Italian

SYLVANIA — The Sylvania Community Orchestra presents “Italian Sojourn, Mozart, and More…” from the stage of Lourdes University’s Franciscan Center. This free community concert will feature local pianist, Kevin Reilly, in Mozart’s Piano Concert No. 23. The program also includes several orchestral selections that will send your senses traveling through the Italian countryside.

This free event starts at 4 p.m. on Nov. 12. Donations are welcomed at the door to support the Sylvania Community Orchestra’s work in the community.
